Are you a veteran with hearing aids?

If so, did you know that the Veteran’s Assistance office provides special care for hearing aid repairs?

Despite how advanced hearing aids are becoming, like all pieces of technology, they’re bound to malfunction from time to time. Common hearing aid issues include:

  • No sound
  • Intermittent sound
  • Feedback, such as whistling or static
  • Poor fit

If your hearing aids aren’t working like they used to and you’ve tried the common troubleshooting tips such as checking or changing the battery, cleaning the tubing or checking volume controls, and the devices still aren’t working, it’s likely time to seek a repair.

For veterans, the Office of Acquisition and Logistics works to provide hearing aid repairs. The OAL works through the Denver Acquisition and Logistics Center (DALC) to offer this service. Veterans who have hearing aids that are authorized by the VA can send their hearing aids to DALC for repair.

How to send to DALC

Working with DALC for hearing repairs is fairly simple but does require some paperwork.

Before sending your hearing aids to DALC, consider making an appointment with the VA hearing specialist and speech pathology service that issued your hearing aids. The office may be able to fix your hearing aids there, saving you time.

Package the hearing aids and all accessories in a sturdy box. Do not send hearing aids in an envelope, as they are highly likely to break while in transit. The hearing aids should be wrapped and padded in the box. If you do not have a sturdy box, DALC will send one to you. To receive a shipping box, contact DALC by email at [email protected] or by phone at 303-273-6200.

After DALC receives your hearing aids, it is time to wait. Most repairs are turned over in 20 days.
